Our Story
Join thousands enjoying authentic Greek flavors with APSOGO
APSOGO comes from the Greek word άψογο. It means flawless. It is a high bar to put on your own label. We chose it on purpose: if a product carries this name, it has to earn it.
How it started
APSOGO was launched in 2021 by two friends from Athens who kept noticing the same thing abroad: the oregano tasted of nothing, the "Greek" olive oil had never seen Greece, and the mountain tea our grandmothers swore by was impossible to find. The food we grew up with simply was not available outside Greece, not in its honest form.
So we went back to the source. We started with a handful of products from farms we knew personally, sold them on Amazon in the UK and Germany, and let the products speak. More than 100,000 customers and several Great Taste awards later, APSOGO has grown into a full Greek pantry: olive oil, herbs, teas, honey, legumes, tomatoes, sea salt and mastiha, shipped across the UK and the EU.

Where it comes from
Greece is not one place. Every region grows something it is famous for, and we go to that region for it.
- Crete gives us our extra virgin olive oil, cold-extracted from Koroneiki olives, and our honeys: thyme, sage and forest pine, from independent beekeepers. The sun-grown tomatoes in our sauces come from Crete too.
- The Parnonas mountains give us oregano, mountain tea and wild herbs, hand-harvested on high slopes where the aroma concentrates.
- Chios gives us mastiha, the famous resin that grows nowhere else in the world.
- The Mani coast, in the south of the Peloponnese, gives us sea salt blossom, raked by hand from the surface of the water.
- Grevena, in the north of Greece, gives us our legumes: gigantes, chickpeas, lentils and fava.
What we stand on
- Great Taste awards across the range. Judged blind by chefs and food writers, not by us.
- Certified organic in the UK and the EU. Most of our range carries both organic certifications. Where a product is not organic, such as our sea salt blossom or Chios mastiha, the product page says so.
- Direct relationships with growers. We buy from farms and cooperatives we visit, at prices that keep small-scale farming alive.
- Since 2021. The same two founders, still tasting every batch.
How we work
We keep batches small and the chain short: from the farm to our certified facilities to your kitchen. Our pouches are resealable and designed to waste as little as possible. And because food is for cooking, every pack carries a QR code that takes you straight to a recipe for it, from fakes and gigantes to stifado.
That is the whole story. No secret, just the standard in the name.
