DESCRIPTION

Sea salt blossom is the delicate top layer of salt that forms as seawater evaporates in the sun. Ours is harvested by hand on the Mani coast of the southern Peloponnese and left unrefined. The flakes are fine yet crunchy, with a clean, bright flavour that seasons without overpowering. The Great Taste judges "liked the fact that they tasted like the bracing sea and they have a clean salinity."

How to use

Use it mainly as a finishing salt, so you can enjoy the crunch. Scatter a pinch over salads, grilled fish and meat, roasted vegetables, sliced tomatoes or fried eggs just before serving. Press it into focaccia before baking, or add a few flakes to chocolate and caramel desserts. Crumble larger flakes between your fingers for a finer sprinkle.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is sea salt blossom?

Sea salt blossom is the delicate top layer of salt that forms as seawater evaporates in the sun. It is gathered as fine yet crunchy flakes, rather than ground into small grains like ordinary table salt.

What does it taste like?

Clean and bright, so it seasons without overpowering, with a pleasant crunch. The Great Taste judges, who awarded it 1 star in 2026, "liked the fact that they tasted like the bracing sea and they have a clean salinity."

How do I use sea salt blossom?

Use it mainly as a finishing salt so you can enjoy the crunch. Scatter a pinch over salads, grilled fish and meat, roast vegetables, sliced tomatoes or fried eggs just before serving.

Can I cook or bake with it?

Yes. Press a few flakes into focaccia before baking, or sprinkle them over chocolate and caramel desserts. You can also season while cooking, but the flakes dissolve and lose their crunch, so most people keep it for the table. Crumble larger flakes between your fingers for a finer sprinkle.

Where does the salt come from?

It is harvested by hand on the Mani coast of the southern Peloponnese, Greece, and left unrefined.

How long will a 300g pouch last?

As a finishing salt you only use a pinch at a time. A pinch weighs roughly half a gram, so the 300g resealable pouch gives several hundred pinches, which lasts most kitchens a good while.

How should I store sea salt blossom?

Salt flakes take up moisture, so keep the pouch tightly resealed in a dry place, away from the steam of the hob. If the flakes stick together, simply break them up with your fingers. The best before date is printed on the pack.

Is anything added, and is it suitable for vegans?

Nothing is added. The ingredient list is 100% sea salt blossom, hand-harvested and unrefined, so it is suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
