DESCRIPTION

Greek oregano is a different herb from the dusty jar in the supermarket. Ours is grown, dried and packed at a certified organic farm in the Parnonas mountains of the Peloponnese, where altitude, dry summers and stony soil give it a much stronger aroma. The Great Taste judges put it simply: "This is clearly an authentic wild oregano."

How to use

Crush a pinch between your fingers over a Greek salad, a slab of feta or sliced tomatoes with olive oil. Add it to lamb, chicken and potatoes before roasting, stir it into tomato sauces, or mix it with lemon, garlic and olive oil for a marinade. It's strong, so start with less than you'd normally use. It also makes a warming herbal tea: one teaspoon in a cup of hot water for 5 minutes.

Greece is not one place. Our oregano and mountain tea come from the Parnonas mountains, our olive oil, honey and tomatoes from Crete, our legumes from Grevena, our mastiha from Chios and our sea salt from the Mani coast. Frequently Asked Questions

How is Greek oregano different from supermarket oregano?

Greek mountain oregano has a much stronger, more pungent aroma than the mild dried oregano sold in most supermarkets. Ours grows at altitude in the Parnonas mountains, where dry summers and stony soil concentrate its flavour. Great Taste judges called it clearly an authentic wild oregano.

What does it taste and smell like?

Bold, warm and peppery, with a strong herbal aroma that is released as soon as you crush it between your fingers. It is noticeably stronger than everyday dried oregano, so start with less than you normally would.

How do I use Greek oregano in cooking?

Crush a pinch over a Greek salad, a slab of feta or sliced tomatoes with olive oil. Add it to lamb, chicken and potatoes before roasting, stir it into tomato sauces, or mix it with lemon, garlic and olive oil for a marinade.

How much dried oregano equals fresh, and can I make tea with it?

As a rule of thumb, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano replaces about 1 tablespoon of fresh. For a warming herbal tea, steep one teaspoon in a cup of hot water for 5 minutes and strain.

Where is it grown and is it organic?

It is grown, dried and packed at a certified organic farm in the Parnonas mountains of the Peloponnese, Greece. It is certified organic in the UK and the EU, and the only ingredient is dried oregano.

How long will a 200g pouch last?

A 200g pouch is a generous size. At roughly 1g per teaspoon, it holds around 200 teaspoons, so it lasts a long time in most kitchens, especially as you need less than with milder oregano.

How should I store it?

Keep the resealable pouch tightly closed in a cool, dry, dark place to protect the aroma. The best before date is printed on the pack.

Does it contain anything other than oregano?

No. The only ingredient is 100% dried oregano, with nothing added.

3.52 oz of real Greek organic dried Oregano for your Italian dishes

It's a good size (3.52 oz) bag of organic dried oregano imported directly from Greece. I use it in my Italian dishes or homemade breads. It tastes like ...Oregano.

Smells strong

3.5oz doesn't seem like a lot but it's a lot more than I thought it'd be because it's so lightweight so you're actually getting a lot volumetrically. This is not a fine grind so you can still see the leaf parts so it does add to the aesthetics since it's not just a powder. Smells and tastes nice and concentrated and I love this for sauces and soups

Fresh, fragrant Greek oregano with a bold flavor

Oregano is a staple in our house. We use it for many different Mediterranean dishes, often along with thyme and rosemary. We usually buy domestic organic oregano but decided to give this Greek oregano a try. I'm glad we did. This oregano is more finely cut than the stuff we usually buy. It's nice and fragrant, and it has a Best Before date more than three years in the future. It won't last that long in our house. This oregano has a stronger flavor and is slightly more bitter than the American oregano we're used to, so it's best to use a little less. Its bold flavor makes it particularly suitable for use in tomato based sauces. It's also great combined with olive oil and salty cheeses in salads or appetizers.

Quality Dried Oregano – Tastes Fresh

This dried oregano has a fabulous flavor, and tastes like it was freshly dehydrated. It comes in a very large bag, so I put part of it in the freezer. So far I have used it in pasta sauce, herb sauce, and salad dressing. It has worked perfectly in all of it. It is one of the best dried oreganos I have used, and second only to fresh. I would definitely recommend this one, and plan on looking to see if they have other herbs as well.

Fantastic Quality

Fantastic quality dried Greek oregano that smells gorgeous! After opening the resealable bag, you get this fresh aromas of rich oregano that makes you want to use it right away! I use this mainly for making salad dressings and, of course, for lasagna and other pasta dishes. It’s very good value too at only £8.99 (price at the time of writing this review) for 200 grams. Overall, I am very pleased with this product which I will have no hesitation to repurchase again in the future. Highly recommended!

Great quality oregano

A bag of 200g of dried oregano. I think it will last a long time given the large quantity, so the best before date of 12-2026 is great news. You will be able to enjoy the oregano for a good while. The taste of the oregano is nice and the smell is even better, making it a great choice for cooking and seasoning. The bag is resealable, which is a helpful feature, as it will keep the oregano fresh for longer.

Oregano

This is a large bag of oregano even though it only has 200g! It smells beautiful. I could even smell it before opening the parcel! I made pizza and this gave it an incredible touch. High quality and great taste!

Lovely

I don't know much about oregano or its uses. To try this, I added a little to some baked beans and it seemed to liven them up a little. I'm sure this could be used in a myriad of recipes, though. This comes in an easy to open resealable pouch and the price seems fair for to me for the quantity, given that it's organic.

So Much Better Than Store-Bought Oregano!

This oregano is so much better than anything I’ve bought at the grocery store. A lot of store-bought oregano has large, tough pieces or stems mixed in that are unpleasant and sometimes impossible to chew. This is completely different—it’s light, flaky, and has a great texture with no big woody pieces. It’s also incredibly flavorful. You can really tell the difference in quality. I also love that it’s organic, and the price is really reasonable for the quality and amount you get.
