DESCRIPTION

A whole bunch of organic lavender, grown and naturally dried on a certified organic farm in the Parnonas mountains of the Peloponnese. The stems are left long and tied together with natural twine, so the bunch arrives just as it was hung to dry. It keeps its clear floral aroma and a delicate, slightly sweet flavour.

How to use

Rub the flowers off the stems as you need them. For tea, use half a teaspoon of flowers per cup, pour over just-boiled water and steep for 5 minutes. In the kitchen, grind a pinch with sugar for shortbread, biscuits and cakes, or infuse it in warm cream or milk for custards and ice cream. Lavender is strong, so start with a little and taste as you go.

The bunch also looks lovely as it is. Stand it in a vase or jar, hang it in the kitchen, or add a few stems to a wrapped gift or a table setting.

Every product from the region that does it best

Greece is not one place. Our oregano and mountain tea come from the Parnonas mountains, our olive oil, honey and tomatoes from Crete, our legumes from Grevena, our mastiha from Chios and our sea salt from the Mani coast. Our founders are based in Athens and buy directly from the farms and cooperatives they visit, so nothing is blended with other origins or bought through a distributor.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is in this lavender bunch?

It is a whole bunch of organic lavender stems with their flowers, naturally dried and tied with natural twine. Nothing is added.

Can I eat or drink this lavender?

Yes. It is certified organic and comes from an organic farm production. Rub the flowers off the stems and use them for tea or in baking. Lavender is strong, so a small amount goes a long way.

How do I make lavender tea from the bunch?

Rub off about half a teaspoon of flowers per cup, pour over just-boiled water and steep for 5 minutes, then strain. It is lovely on its own or with mountain tea, chamomile or a slice of lemon.

Can I use it as decoration?

Yes. Stand it in a vase or jar, hang it in the kitchen, or add a few stems to a gift or table setting. Keep it out of direct sunlight so the colour lasts longer.

Where is the lavender grown, and is it organic?

It is grown and dried on a certified organic farm in the Parnonas mountains of the Peloponnese, Greece. It is certified organic in the UK and EU.

How is this different from your 100g lavender pouch?

The pouch holds loose dried flowers, ready to measure out. The bunch is whole stems tied together, so it works for the kitchen and as a display. If you mostly want tea, the pouch is the easier choice.

How should I store it?

Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. If you want to keep the flowers for the kitchen, store the bunch in a paper bag or a closed box to hold on to the aroma.

Is lavender tea caffeine-free, and can I drink it during pregnancy?

Yes, lavender tea is naturally caffeine-free. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking medication, please check with your doctor or pharmacist before drinking herbal teas.
